Weather or not

4 Mar

I’m going to go out on a limb and suggest that the core business of the SA Weather Service is to provide weather forecasts. Why is it that when I go to their site, I get told what the weather is now? I know what the weather is now (it’s 8am, and my house has windows that allow me to see out). This is allegedly a week of Cape Town summer:

Cloudless with a maximum of 21deg? No, clearly not maximum temps. The week’s forecast seems to be telling me what the weather will be at 8am every day. Why oh why? Why would I possibly want to know that? Why would they assume that is all the information I would want in a forecast?Consulting a news site, I get this:

Weather right now (again, not too sure why), plus all the minima and maxima for the week. I.e. the stuff users need to know. Why in the name of all things holy would I not be able to get that information from the national service dedicated to that job?
